About Me

My name is Magda Jiménez-Porter and I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia. I have a B.S. in Marine Biology and a Masters of Education in Special Education with a concentration in Dyslexia. I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) and a licensed Dyslexia Therapist in the state of Texas (TDLR License Number 2796). I am also certified to teach Early Childhood through 6th Grade in the State of Texas.

About Our Program

Take Flight is a comprehensive, ungraded, structured, and sequential curriculum that utilizes multisensory techniques for basic instruction in reading, writing, and spelling.

Take Flight is designed specifically for individuals who have language-based learning differences (dyslexia). However, Take Flight has also proven successful for children needing basic instruction and/or as language enrichment. Take Flight is designed to enable students to achieve and maintain better word recognition, reading fluency, reading comprehension.

Take Flight addresses the five components of effective reading instruction identified by the National Reading Panel’s research and is a comprehensive Tier III intervention for students with dyslexia. These five components are:

  • Phonemic awareness

  • Phonics

  • Fluency

  • Vocabulary

  • Reading comprehension
